Rebuilt Commercial Fisheries Center of RI opens

KINGSTON, RI – After two years of planning, permitting, and construction, a vastly improved Commercial Fisheries Center of Rhode Island (CFCRI) opened its doors on Sept. 21. On hand were representatives of the 12 associations housed under the new roof at 59 East Farm Road on the University of Rhode Island (URI) campus here.

Ted Platz, who serves as president of both CFCRI and the Rhode Island Monkfish Association, said that the building shows what the industry can do when it invests in itself.

“This is an early milestone of where we’re going on a long road to a bigger, better, and brighter future in Rhode Island,” he said.
