Another Working Waterfront Festival success

NEW BEDFORD, MA – Overcast skies and damp conditions didn’t dissuade visitors from attending the 2012 Working Waterfront Festival held Sept. 29-30, which organizers described as a “tremendous success.”

Fishermen, musicians, storytellers, and poets took various stages for workshops and performances focused on themes ranging from “storms and close calls” to “superstitions and magical creatures.”

Shawn Machie, captain of the New Bedford-based dragger Apollo, which was featured in the History Channel documentary miniseries that aired in October, estimated that some 5,000 people toured his boat while it was dockside for the festival.
