NACE, Milford Aquaculture Seminar, Canadian trade groups to gather for conference/show in Portland, ME, Jan. 14-16

PORTLAND, ME – When the curtain goes up on the Northeast Aquaculture Conference and Expo (NACE) here in mid-January it will mark 17 years since the event was founded to help service and showcase the region’s diverse aquaculture industry.

The upcoming event is set for Jan. 14-16 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.

NACE was created in 1998 by the Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center (MAIC) with the idea of bringing aquaculture producers, vendors, researchers, and managers from across the northeast region together to discuss pressing issues and relevant research.

Subsequent events have been held in Rhode Island (2002), New Hampshire (2004), Connecticut (2006), Maine (2008), and Massachusetts (2010).

This year, NACE is teaming up with the popular Milford Aquaculture Seminar (which will be held in conjuction with NACE) and three Canadian industry trade associations (the Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia, PEI Aquaculture Alliance, and Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Association) for a broad-based international gathering.

NACE 2015 gets underway Wednesday, Jan. 14 with field trips to various aquaculture and research facilities including a mussel farm and kelp farm in nearby Casco Bay.

Later that afternoon, a joint event …
