NEW ORLEANS, LA – If you mention Jim Dartez’s name in aquaculture circles the most likely response is, “Sure, Royce Instruments,” the company Dartez owned and was often the public face of from the mid- 1980s until he sold the business to ITT Industries in 2002.
In fact, even after selling the business, Dartez’s involvement with the company did not end. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, which destroyed the Royce plant in New Orleans, Dartez was enlisted by ITT to help them rebuild a new manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC, which ultimately turned into a three-year commitment.
So he’s not surprised people still think of him as the Royce guy.
