Sticking close to home:

An inside look at Kasco Marine and the folks who work there

FTF_SHPRESCOTT, WI –  Okay, it may be a little self-serving, but I have decided to dedicate this month’s column to one of my favorite subjects.

Kasco Marine and the great people who make it fun and productive to work there.

As some of you may know, I have officially been working for Kasco since 1999, but my association with the company and its products began long before that.

I would say I have been working with Kasco in one way or another for close to 25 years.

The Kasco history

The history of Kasco needs to start with the Skluzacek (pronounced Skloo—ZAH–check) family.  Bill and Bert, his wife, were the founders and longtime public face of Kasco until their passing in 2002.

Bill was the youngest in a family of of 9 kids and served in the US Navy during WWII.

He married Bert in 1955 and from that point forward they were pretty much always seen together at work and just about anywhere else.

They bought a small fish landing in Afton, MN that eventually became the Windmill Marina.

Bill knew that fiberglass boats would often develop stress fractures…
