Florida leads shift from wild harvest to cultured trade
Since the beginning, the marine aquarium trade has relied primarily on capture fisheries for its supply.
In the ornamental trade, an estimated 95% of the freshwater fish come from farms, but on the marine side the number can be flipped – about 95% are still coming from the reefs of the tropics.
However, big changes are occurring.
