STONINGTON, ME – “Yeah!”
I was crouched in the stern of Peter Buxton’s Susan Marie, a 37′ REPCO that he completely rebuilt a few years back. A former lobster boat/gillnetter/dragger, the Susan Marie sees much easier duty these days, as Buxton takes out small charters after hours when his Buxton Boats LLC shop is closed.
At this moment, however, the Susan Marie was having some fun, plain and simple, stretching her legs as a photo boat with Buxton at the wheel and me back aft, camera in hand. The subject was the Seasong, a brand new wooden 38′ lobster boat that had rolled out the doors of Buxton Boats just a few days before – the second boat Buxton has built for local lobsterman Frank Gotwals.
