COREA, ME \u2013 \u201cWhen it comes to wind, 30 knots is our new 20.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s what Corea, ME lobsterman Dan Rodgers says he told his crew after they\u2019d had a chance to work his new Super 46 Wesmac for a few days.<\/p>\n

Officially, finishers Oceanville Boatworks in Stonington had Dan\u2019s Bottom Line overboard and running the week right after Christmas; she was hauling gear for the first time on Jan. 2 and had a chance to prove herself right off the bat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe worked her three long days that first week and I have to tell you, I was impressed,\u201d says the 39-year-old Rodgers. \u201cI\u2019ve had both skeg boats and built-downs, and to me, this Wesmac is in-between the two.\u00a0 You get the performance of a skeg hull, but the steadiness and comfort of a built-down.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven side-to, she\u2019d only roll down a quarter of what you\u2019d expect – and that was it.\u201d<\/p>\n

No doubt, the Wesmac\u2019s molded-in chine is key to some of that steadiness.<\/p>\n
