GLOUCESTER, MA \u2013 Fishermen, fish processors, farmers, scientists, artists, educators, nutritionists, and health care workers met here with local, state, and federal representatives on Jun. 15-16 to develop new initiatives to sustain Gloucester\u2019s time-honored seafood industry.<\/p>\n

A federal \u201cLocal Foods, Local Places\u201d in-kind award supported the program, also designed to support sustainable local farming.<\/p>\n

During an introductory meeting on Jun. 15, residents celebrated their fiercely independent \u201cisland\u201d heritage, community, and fishing way of life, which have long sustained Gloucester.<\/p>\n

They expressed strong support for Gloucester\u2019s identity as a fishing, farming, and artist community \u2013 and they insisted that it was critical to…<\/p>\n
