This caused Downeast and Midcoast Maine base boat prices to rise $.20\/lb. on Oct. 7, though some midcoast wharves had already raised the price by $.10\/lb on Oct. 6.<\/p>\nThe week before the reporting week for this issue\u2019s Lobster Market Report, a northeaster made fishing nonexistent in most places in New England.<\/p>\n
Depending on the area, the storm ran its course for from three days to a week and a half.\u00a0 During this period everybody was looking for lobster and none was being landed.<\/p>\n
This caused Downeast and Midcoast Maine base boat prices to rise $.20\/lb. on Oct. 7, though some midcoast wharves had already raised the price by $.10\/lb on Oct. 6.<\/p>\n
On the Oct. 7 the wharves went up another $.10\/lb,\u00a0 then on Oct. 9 the Downeast base boat price rose another $.25\/lb.<\/p>\n
Because prices were so volatile and changing so rapidly, the base boat prices cited are all as of Oct. 9.<\/p>\n
Some people thought processors had driven the price too high, though that was not the view of most fishermen.<\/p>\n
