Family Tradition (inset), a 17&#8217;2&#8243;-beamed version.<br \/>(Brian Robbins photos)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b><i>Thirty years or so <\/i><\/b><b><i>of saying \u2018Why not?\u2019<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>STEUBEN, ME \u2013 \u201cMan, that\u2019s a big boat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not a very insightful statement, for sure, but it\u2019s the first thing that came out of my mouth when I looked down into one of the hulls being finished at H&amp;H Marine Inc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeventeen feet six inches wide by how long?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis one will be 46 feet,\u201d said H&amp;H\u2019s Bruce Grindal.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve ever called H&amp;H about a boat, he\u2019s the guy you\u2019ve probably spoken to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course it could be 44 feet,\u201d said Eric Moores, who co-owns H&amp;H with Grindal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr 42,\u201d said Harold Hammond, who does the purchasing for the shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could be narrower,\u201d said Grindal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOr wider,\u201d said Moores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, if we needed to, we could make the door bigger,\u201d added Hammond.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds like a Downeast Maine version of an Abbott &amp;
