{"id":4859,"date":"2014-05-28T05:59:24","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T09:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fish-news.com\/cfn\/?p=4859"},"modified":"2014-06-05T12:03:21","modified_gmt":"2014-06-05T16:03:21","slug":"mlmc-reopens-search-for-executive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fish-news.com\/cfn\/mlmc-reopens-search-for-executive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"MLMC reopens search for executive director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PORTLAND, ME \u2013 The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC) suffered a bit of a setback in mid-May when its chosen candidate to become the group\u2019s new executive director dropped out at the last minute due to personal reasons.<\/p>\n<p>During its May 20 meeting, the MLMC board discussed the situation and decided to reopen its search for an executive director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MLMC is committed to finding an outstanding candidate who can successfully lead the worldwide marketing effort for the iconic Maine Lobster brand,\u201d said Acting Executive Director Marianne LaCroix.\u00a0 \u201cWhile the MLMC continues the search for a new executive director, the organization is moving forward with a full schedule of marketing programs designed to increase demand for Maine lobster.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In mid-June, a film crew from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) will travel to Maine to gather footage of the Maine lobster industry for the new online education program CIA is developing with the MLMC.<\/p>\n<p>The crew is expected to film scenes of lobster fishing, harbors, and wharf and community activities, as well as several well-known Maine chefs preparing lobster recipes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Maine footage will be interspersed with cooking demonstrations from CIA educators to provide professional chefs and consumers with creative Maine Lobster culinary applications and product quality information,\u201d LaCroix explained.\u00a0 \u201cThe educational program, due to be released in September, will be hosted on CIA\u2019s professional chef website, which receives over 50,000 unique visitors each month.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program also will be posted and promoted both by CIA and the MLMC on social media sites.<\/p>\n<p>The MLMC premiered its e-mail newsletter, <i>Maine Lobster Insider,<\/i> in mid-May.\u00a0 Featured articles focused on:\u00a0 the collaborative\u2019s participation in the CIA\u2019s Greystone Flavor Summit in California in April (see CFN May 2014); summit recipes; the Maine lobster industry\u2019s sustainability track record; and the Maine Tourism Association\u2019s new quarterly publication called <i>The Maine Thing<\/i>, which was entirely devoted to stories about Maine lobster and the state\u2019s lobster industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe <i>Maine Lobster Insider<\/i> is designed to increase awareness and interest in Maine lobster among consumers and trade customers,\u201d LaCroix said.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a great way to see what the MLMC is doing and to stay on top of what our customers are hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To subscribe to the free newsletter, visit &lt;www.joinmainelobster.com&gt;.\u00a0<b> \/cfn\/<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"CFN-6_14cover\" src=\"https:\/\/fish-news.com\/cfn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/CFN-6_14cover-242x300.jpg\" width=\"194\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Read the rest and much, much more in the\u00a0June issue of Commercial Fisheries News.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Read online\u00a0immediately and download for future reference.<\/p>\n<p>[add_to_cart=4774]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"ninja-children-wrap\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PORTLAND, ME \u2013 The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC) suffered a bit of a setback in mid-May when its chosen candidate to become the group\u2019s new executive director dropped out at the last minute due to personal reasons.
