<\/b>Yep, no doubt about it.\u00a0 It\u2019s Maine Fishermen\u2019s Forum time again.\u00a0 Though the weather is likely to be snotty \u2013 it usually is \u2013 forum time means spring is just around the corner.<\/p>\n

Boats that were hauled for the winter will go back overboard.\u00a0 Dooryards will empty of their stacks of traps.\u00a0 And whoa Nelly, before you know it, it\u2019ll all start up again.<\/p>\n

But before that happens many of you will be making the trip to Rockland for a weekend of education, conversation, relaxation, and maybe \u2013 just maybe \u2013 a cold adult beverage or two.\u00a0 It\u2019s been known to happen.<\/p>\n

\"\"There will be much to talk about.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it.\u00a0 It\u2019s been a \u2026 weird year.<\/p>\n

Lobsters didn\u2019t do what they were supposed to.\u00a0 Or maybe they did \u2013 and we just need to get used to it.<\/p>\n

Politics and trade were in flux.\u00a0 Still are.\u00a0 And the seafood industry is caught in the crossfire.<\/p>\n

Right whale deaths peaked and no one is quite sure why.\u00a0 But fixed gear fishermen are easy to blame.<\/p>\n

Then there was the Carlos Rafael debacle in New Bedford and its ripple effect all through the region \u2013 the net impact yet to be assessed.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s just the tip of the iceberg.<\/p>\n

But, the forum crowd has never let a few dark clouds spoil a great weekend.\u00a0 This year, the 43rd annual gathering, promises to be no exception.<\/p>\n

Expect the Samoset parking lots to be full, families and kids of all ages streaming through the corridors to and from the pool, crowded aisles in the trade show, lively (even heated) discussions in the meeting rooms, and a waiting line at the downstairs lounge.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be fun.\u00a0 It\u2019ll be rewarding.\u00a0 And we will be there.<\/p>\n
