FRIENDSHIP, ME \u2013 It\u2019s kind of like looking at two different boats.<\/p>\n
With Keith Simmons Jr.\u2019s 46\u2019 Isaac & Colby sitting still in the harbor in Friendship, Maine, you circle around it in a Carolina Skiff and say to yourself, \u201cThat\u2019s a big<\/i> boat.\u201d<\/p>\n
A few minutes later, when you\u2019re braced off in the bow of that same Carolina with the outboard flat-out, snapping pictures of the Isaac & Colby running alongside you \u2026 and the teal-hulled Wayne Beal suddenly finds another notch or two of throttle and simply walks off and leaves you, you\u2019re not thinking about it being 46\u2019 long and 17\u201910\u201d wide \u2013 you\u2019re saying to yourself, \u201cThat boat flies<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n
But it is the same boat \u2013 and make no mistake about it: this is no fair-weather sailor pretending to be a lobster boat.\u00a0 Keith Simmons puts in his share of hard weather and has paid his dues working on the water.<\/p>\n
But he will confess to having a \u201cneed for speed\u201d \u2013 thus the 1400-horse MAN tucked under the deck of the Isaac & Colby.<\/p>\n
Even if it\u2019s not your cup o\u2019 tea, you have to admit: a 46-footer that clocks in at 32 knots ready to head offshore to haul is pretty impressive.<\/p>\n
