Seafreeze buys former Pt. Judith co-op plant

DAVISVILLE, RI – Earlier this year, Davisville-based Seafreeze Ltd., the largest producer and trader of sea-frozen seafood on the East Coast, purchased the 37,000-square-foot building that once housed the Point Judith Fishermen’s Cooperative from the Slavin Point Judith Fishermen’s Company.

The former “co-op” building at 75 State St. in Galilee stands on property owned by the state of Rhode Island. The sale of the structure was finalized in February, and, in April, Seafreeze owners Glen, Kyle, and Richard Goodwin entered into a five-year lease agreement with the state under which they will pay $117,000 annually in rent.
