Fish Health Section Blue Book now free

PORTLAND, OR – Perhaps the most exciting news to come out of the Seventh International Symposium on Aquatic Animal Health held in September in Portland was the announcement that the “Blue Book” – a virtual bible in the fish health world – is now available online in “open-access” format for free.

The Blue Book is an essential handbook for fish health professionals and others, serving as a leading source for high-quality and relevant information on the detection and diagnosis of aquatic animal diseases.

The American Fisheries Society Fish Health Section (FHS) leadership has been discussing this open-access plan for several years, with Chris Whipps leading the charge.

This year’s FHS Technical Standards Committee, made up of Maureen Purcell, Kevin Snekvik, and Nick Phelps, saw the plan through to fruition, and Andy Goodwin helped transition the new Blue Book format onto the FHS web page at <www.afs-fhs.org>.  …
