PORTLAND, ME – The northern shrimp fishery may be regulated very differently this winter if stateby- state quotas and/or trawl vs. trap allocations are adopted by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s (ASMFC) Northern Shrimp Section.
The section is considering both approaches and other proposals as part of Draft Addendum I to Amendment 2 to the interstate shrimp plan. The addendum was initiated last January to help “stabilize” the fishery and increase management flexibility
