Guest Column – Fishermen safety Can’t beat training; attend courses – by J.J. Bartlett

With changes in Massachusetts and federal laws making health insurance more available to all, the Fishing Partnership Health Plan has changed its focus and its name.

Now called Fishing Partnership Support Services (FPSS), our mission is to support the health and well-being of fishing families through a network of FPSS Navigators, people who are part of your fishing community and understand the challenges you face. Among the services our navigators provide help with are: working through the health care system; finding the right health plan; participating in safety-at-sea training sessions; accessing health screenings; obtaining professional advice on legal and financial matters; getting counseling on family issues, depression, anxiety, grief, and substance abuse; and more.
